Dental Bridges

If you have missing teeth, a dental bridge could be the solution. A dental bridge is a prosthetic device that fills the gap between two teeth, allowing you to chew and speak properly while also restoring your confidence. A bridge is made up of two or more crowns for the teeth on either side of the gap and a false tooth in between. Bridges can be supported by natural teeth or dental implants.

At Courthouse Dental & Implants In Marlow, Buckinghamshire, we’re pleased to use Emax® in our crowns, the all-ceramic, metal-free material. The Emax® system combines high aesthetics and superior strength and is all-ceramic and metal-free.

What are the benefits of Dental Bridges?

  • One of the most significant advantages of dental bridges is improved functionality. When you have missing teeth, it can be difficult to eat or speak clearly. With a bridge in place, you will regain your ability to chew properly and enunciate clearly.
  • Dental bridges offer cosmetic benefits by improving the appearance of your smile, no more gaps.
  • Bridges can prevent further tooth loss by maintaining proper alignment within your mouth as when there’s a missing tooth, other teeth may shift out of place which affects the bite and can causes additional problems.
  • Dental bridges not only give patients back their smiles but can also help maintain oral health whilst providing functional and aesthetic benefits.

Dental Bridges FAQs

How are dental bridges fitted?

Bridges can vary in design, however generally a wing of metal will be used to attach the new tooth or crown to adjacent teeth to fill any gaps caused by missing teeth. Sometimes a full crown will be placed on the adjacent tooth, which is then attached to the new false tooth. The materials used for bridges can vary, but generally a metal fused to porcelain would be used or very strong porcelain will be used alone.

Will the bridge match my other teeth?

Our dentists use the latest technologies in dentistry to ensure the perfect shade match is achieved every time for you Emax crown.

How long do dental bridges last?

Generally speaking, the average lifespan of a bridge is 12-15 years. At Courthouse Dental & Implants we believe that with the experience of our dentists when fitting and suitable care cleaning on your part, a bridge should exceed these averages.

How do I know if I am suitable for a dental bridge?

In order to be suitable for treatment, your teeth need to be strong enough to hold the load of the dental bridge. It is also important that you have a good standard of oral hygiene before the bridge is placed.
